The Heat are the three-time defending Eastern Conference champions and they come into the playoffs as the No. 2 seed in the East after winning the Southeast Division. Miami went 54-28 during the season with a 32-9 record at home and a 22-19 mark on the road.

The Pacers come into the postseason as the top seed in the Eastern Conference after winning the Central Division. Indiana was 56-26 this season, going 35-6 at home and 21-20 on the road. The 35 wins at home were most of any team in the NBA.
