Thursday NBA Opening Odds
(The Spread) – You would be hard-pressed to find an NBA regular season game as intriguing as Thursday night’s clash between the Boston Celtics and the Chicago Bulls at the United Center.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Bodog.com have made Derrick Rose and the Bulls 4.5-point favorites over the Celtics on Thursday in a contest that will air live on TNT at 8:00PM EST. The over-under is listed at 179.
According to latest NBA trends, the under is 9-3 in the last 12 meetings in Chicago. The favorite is 6-2 ATS in the last eight meetings. The Celtics are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings, but are 9-2 ATS in their last 11 games overall as an underdog. Chicago is 9-1-2 ATS in its last 12 home games versus a team with a winning road record.
Rose, perhaps the frontrunner for the NBA’s MVP award, is currently averaging 25.1 points per game and most recently was held to 19 points in a slim 97-94 home win over Phoenix. Boston’s Paul Pierce (18.8 points per game) led a balanced Celtics scoring effort Tuesday with 18 points in a 99-82 victory over Philadelphia.
The only other game on the Thursday schedule is the second half of the TNT doubleheader as the Utah Jazz entertain the Portland Trail Blazers at 10:30PM EST. No overnight line was released for this game.
