Hawks covering
Though Atlanta is long out of the playoff race, the Hawks are playing pretty well as of late. They have won five of their last seven, including wins over the 76ers and Bucks. Atlanta is 6-1 against the spread in its last seven. Atlanta is 29-50 overall, 12-27 on the road, 41-38 against the spread and 45-34 with the over.
The Hawks have the league’s worst defense, as they give up 118.8 points per game while opponents shoot 47.2 percent. Offensively, Atlanta is putting up 113.2 points per contest while shooting 45.2 percent as a team. Kevin Huerter and Kent Bazemore are both doubtful to play tonight due to injuries. John Collins is leading the team with 19.5 points and 9.6 rebounds per contest.
Magic need win
Orlando is coming off a 114-100 win at home over the Knicks on Wednesday for its eighth win in 10 games. The Magic are 4-2 against the spread in their last six. Orlando is 39-40 on the season, 22-16 at home, 42-36-1 against the spread and 44-35 with the under. The Magic are eighth in the East right now, tied with Brooklyn for seventh. They are ½ a game behind Detroit in sixth and ½ a game over Miami in ninth.
The Magic have a great defense, as they are giving up just 106.4 points per game while opponents shoot 45.5 percent. Offensively, Orlando is putting up 106.5 points per game while shooting 45.1 percent. Nikola Vucevic leads the team with 20.7 points and 12.0 rebounds per game while Aaron Gordon is adding 15.9 points and 7.3 rebounds per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
Atlanta
The Hawks are 8-1 against the spread in their last nine road games and 6-1 ATS in their last seven following a win.
Orlando
The Magic are 5-1 against the spread in their last six home games and 6-2 ATS in their last eight conference games.
Prediction:
Orlando has had Atlanta’s number this season, winning and covering in all three meetings this year. All three wins have been by double figures. The Atlanta offense gets held in check by the Magic and Orlando’s offense is able to see a surge against the league’s worst defense. With Orlando needing the win for the playoff hopes, I am going to take the Magic at home minus the points.
NBA Prediction: Orlando Magic -8.5
