Lakers on a run
The Lakers have decided to sit out LeBron James the rest of the season, but they have won four of their last five games and covered the spread in five straight. That includes a 130-102 win at New Orleans on Sunday. The Lakers are 35-42 on the season, 14-25 on the road, 32-43-2 against the spread and 46-30-1 with the under.
Los Angeles is averaging 112.2 points per game this season while shooting 47.2 percent as a team. Defensively, the Lakers are giving up 113.6 points per game while opponents shoot 45.2 percent against them. Along with LeBron being out, Kyle Kuzma is questionable tonight with a foot injury. Kuzma is the team leader outside of LeBron with 18.7 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. JaVale McGee is adding 11.8 points and 7.5 rebounds per contest.
Thunder a mess
Oklahoma City has lost back-to-back home games to Denver and Dallas over the last few days and they have now dropped seven of their last nine games. OKC is now 44-33 on the season, 24-14 at home, 38-39 against the spread and 39-37-1 with the under. The Thunder are eighth in the West right now, tied with San Antonio for the final two spots with five games to go.
The Thunder are putting up 113.9 points per game this season while shooting 45.3 percent as a team. Defensively, OKC is giving up 110.9 points per game while opponents shoot 46 percent against them. Paul George is leading the team with 28.2 points, 8.2 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game while Russell Westbrook is adding 23 points, 11.0 rebounds and 10.4 assists per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
Los Angeles
The Lakers are just 3-9 against the spread in their last 12 road games, but have covered in four straight on 1 day of rest.
Oklahoma City
The Thunder are just 2-12 against the spread in their last 14 conference games and 1-5 ATS in their last six home games.
Prediction:
The Thunder certainly should be the better team, but that doesn’t mean they are playing like it. OKC has looked lost lately, losing to the road-struggling Nuggets by 10 at home and then losing to the Doncic-less Mavs by 3 at home. The Lakers don’t have anything to play for right now, but they seem to be playing looser with LeBron off the floor. I will gladly take 12 points for them against this OKC team that can’t seem to get on track.
NBA Prediction: Los Angeles Lakers +12
