Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers from online sportsbook BetNow.eu, the Thunder are 6-point favorites to beat the Grizzlies. The total, meanwhile, sits at 218 points and as of this writing, 62% of the public betting tickets wagered at online sportsbooks are on the Thunder to cover the point spread.
Oklahoma City Thunder Fantasy Spin
Paul George racked up 28 points, six rebounds, five assists, five 3-pointers, two steals and one block to help OKC pull out a 116-109 road win in Toronto. It was an impressive bounce-back win for the Thunder, who were coming off a home loss in OT vs. the Raptors. Russell Westbrook also stuffed the stat sheet with 18 points, 12 rebounds, 13 assists, four steals, two 3-pointers and one block, and their combined efforts helped end a four-game losing streak. The Thunder are only two games behind Portland for first-round homecourt advantage, reducing the odds that PG and Westy will be rested.
Memphis Grizzlies Fantasy Spin
Mike Conley played 35 minutes in Saturday’s loss to Minnesota, scoring 23 points (7-of-17 FGs, 7-of-8 FTs) with three rebounds, three assists, two steals and two three-pointers. Conley was held out of Friday’s overtime loss to Orlando due to “general soreness.” The veteran point guard has scored 20 points or more in seven consecutive games, and in the six prior to Saturday he posted averages of 29.5 points, 8.3 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 3.3 three-pointers per with shooting splits of 53.8/50.0/82.7. Over the last month, Conley has been a top-20 player in eight-category leagues and a top-15 player in nine-category leagues. While Memphis may look to get him the occasional night off as the season approaches its conclusion, Conley’s a player who needs to be rostered when he’s available.
NBA Betting Trends
Oklahoma City
The under is 10-4-1 in the Thunder’s last 15 games overall and is 3-0-1 in their last four road games.
Memphis
The over is 4-1 in the Grizzlies’ last five games overall and is 4-1 in their last five games coming off a double-digit loss at home.
Prediction
Even though the Grizzlies are coming off an ugly loss at home to the Timberwolves in which they weren’t competitive in the second half, this is too many points to hand a Memphis team that often plays excellent defensively. The home team has covered the spread in 13 of the previous 18 meetings between these two teams and the Grizzlies have covered the spread in four of their previous five games at the FedExForum. Meanwhile, the Thunder are just 1-4 against the spread in their last five games overall and are 1-5 ATS in their last six games coming off a win.
