LINE MOVEMENT
The Lakers opened as 4.5-point road favorites but the line has climbed a full point up to 5.5 at the majority of online sportsbooks. As for the total, it hit the board at 217 but was bet up to 215.5 at most online books.
PUBLIC BETTING
As of this writing, 84% of the betting tickets wagered at online sportsbooks are on the Lakers to cover the point spread tonight. Meanwhile, 51% of the betting tickets are on the under.
KEY INJURY TO WATCH
The Lakers will not have the services of Isaiah Thomas, who is out with a hip injury. Brandon Ingram (groin) is also out while Brook Lopez (back) is probable. On the other side, Mike Conley is out for the year for the Grizzlies due to a heel injury while Andrew Harrison wrist) is probable.
BETTING STRATEGY
Memphis has actually been a great play in this series, covering the spread in four straight home meetings with L.A. But go ahead and back the Grizzlies if you want – I won’t do it. They’re 2-6 against the spread in their last eight home games, are 2-7 against the number in their last nine games overall, and covered the spread just once in their last eight games coming off a loss. The Grizzlies find new ways to lose every time they take the court and while the Lakers are winless at the betting window in their last four games, they’re a better bet to cash than the woeful Grizzlies.
OUR PREDICTION: LOS ANGELES LAKERS -5.5
