Saturday’s NBA Opening Odds
(The Spread) -A total of nine games on Saturday’s NBA schedule mean plenty of quality matchups on the schedule, one of which is in Dallas where two of the Western Conference’s best teams are in action.
The Los Angeles Lakers take their 46-20 overall record and 24-12 road mark to face the host Dallas Mavericks, who are 47-18 overall and 24-9 in its home building. Play begins at 9:00PM EST.
Oddsmakers and online sports book Bodog.com have opened with the Mavericks as 1-point favorite, while the over-under is set at 193. According to the latest trends, the Lakers are 32-34 against the spread this season while the Mavericks are 35-28 ATS. The Lakers are 26-40 on over-unders and Dallas is 39-26 with over-unders.
Los Angeles had won eight in a row since the All-Star Break, but had its streak snapped with a 94-88 loss Thursday at Miami. The Mavericks have won eight of their last 10 with its last game being a 127-109 victory Thursday at home over the New Knicks.
A pair of perennial All-Stars lead their respective teams into action as Kobe Bryant (25.1 ppg, 5.2 rpg, 4.8 apg) highlights the Lakers offense, while Dirk Nowitzki (23 ppg, 6.6 rpg) paces the Mavericks.
Elsewhere, the Miami Heat try to maintain momentum as they host the Memphis Grizzlies at 3:30PM EST. Miami is a 7.5-point favorite and the over-under is 196. Atlanta entertains Portland at 7:00PM EST, where the Hawks are 1-point favorites and the over-under is 181.5. The Philadelphia 76ers travel to the Milwaukee Bucks for an 8:00PM EST start. Milwaukee is a 2-point favorite and the over-under is listed at 185.5.
