Westbrook, Curry battling for MVP
LAS VEGAS, NV (TheSpread) – The race for the NBA MVP is heating up as Russell Westbrook is making a strong push to best Stephen Curry for the honor.
According to the latest oddsmakers, both Westbrook and Curry are listed with 11/10 odds to win this year’s award. James Harden of the Rockets is getting 3/1 odds while LeBron James is listed with 8/1 odds. Of the four candidates listed, only James has won the honor previously.
Westbrook is on a tear right now for the Oklahoma City Thunder. He has recorded five triple-doubles in his last six games to push OKC to 35-28 on the season without Kevin Durant currently playing due to injury. He is averaging a triple-double since the All-Star break and is posting 27.4 points, 8.3 assists, 7.1 rebounds and 2.1 steals per game for the season.
Curry has led Golden State to the league’s best record at 49-12. Curry is averaging 23.6 points, 7.8 assists, 2.1 steals and 4.4 rebounds per game this season. He is also hitting 3.3 3-pointers per game while shooting 42 percent from the arc.
