Nets on a skid
Brooklyn is coming off a 116-113 loss at Miami on Saturday for a fourth straight loss. They are 1-3 against the spread during this current losing streak. The Nets are 26-33 on the season, 10-20 on the road, 28-31 against the spread and 29-29-1 with the over/under total.
The Nets are putting up 110.6 points per game on offense while shooting 44.4 percent from the field. Defensively, Brooklyn is allowing 111.2 points per game while opponents shoot 44.2 percent from the field. Along with Kyrie Irving sitting out the rest of the season, Garrett Temple is questionable to play tonight as well due to a shoulder injury. Spencer Dinwiddie is leading the team with 20.9 points and 6.8 assists per game while Caris LeVert is averaging 16.3 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.8 assists per contest.
Boston edged by Houston
The Boston Celtics suffered a tough 111-110 OT loss at home to the Houston Rockets on Saturday. Despite the loss, the Celtics covered in their sixth straight game. Boston is now 41-18 on the season, 23-6 at home, 37-20-2 against the spread and 32-27 with the under.
The Celtics are allowing just 106.6 points per game on defense this season while opponents shoot just 44.1 percent from the floor. Offensively, Boston is averaging 113.4 points per game while shooting 46.3 percent as a team. Kemba Walker is expected to play tonight despite his knee injury, but both Jayson Tatum and Marcus Smart are questionable due to an illness. Tatum has been on fire lately and averages 23.5 points and 7.1 rebounds per game. Walker adds 21.8 points per game while Jaylen Brown scores 20.4 per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
Brooklyn
The Nets are 5-11 against the spread in their last 16 road games and 3-9 ATS in their last 12 games as a road underdog.
Boston
The Celtics are 7-1 against the spread in their last eight home games and 4-0 ATS in their last four games following a loss.
Prediction:
The home team has won and covered in both meetings this year, but these two haven’t met since November. I still like the home team tonight though. With or without Tatum, the Celtics still have a trifecta of scorers to go with when you include Gordon Hayward in the mix. The Nets don’t have a defense to rely on, so Boston should be able to put up a big total either way. Brooklyn has been on the road for a while now and the Nets are probably losing some steam heading into this one.
NBA Prediction: Boston Celtics -7.5
