Rockets win two straight
Houston is coming off a 119-111 win over Atlanta at home on Monday night. The Rockets have won their last two, but are just 1-3 against the spread in their last four games. The Rockets are 35-25 on the season, 14-16 on the road, 27-32-1 against the spread and 32-27-1 with the over.
The Rockets are finally back to being largely healthy. That should help an offense that is averaging 113.2 points per game but shooting just 44.6 percent. Defensively, Houston is giving up 111.1 points per game while allowing opponents to shoot 47.6 percent against them. James Harden is averaging 36.3 points, 6.6 rebounds and 7.6 assists per game this season to lead Houston while Clint Capela is averaging 17.1 points and 12.5 rebounds per contest.
Hornets struggling
Charlotte is coming off a 121-110 loss at home to Golden State on Monday. The Hornets have lost and failed to cover in four of their last five games. Charlotte is 28-32 on the season, 20-11 at home, 29-31 against the spread and 32-27-1 with the over.
The Hornets are in the middle of the road on offense and defense, averaging 111 points per game on offense while giving up 111.5 points per contest on defense. Kemba Walker is leading the team with 25.1 points and 5.7 assists per game while Jeremy Lamb is putting up 15 points and 5.5 rebounds per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
Houston
The Rockets are just 5-12 against the spread in their last 17 games overall and 1-6 ATS in their last seven against Eastern Conference opponents.
Charlotte
The Hornets are just 1-7 ATS in their last 8 Wednesday games and 5-16-1 ATS in their last 22 games following a double-digit loss at home.
Prediction:
Houston hasn’t been great against the spread as of late, but the return of Capela should help this team turn the corner and really find their stride again. Houston is fully healthy and should be able to overwhelm this Charlotte team that is pretty one dimensional behind Walker. The Hornets couldn’t hang with Golden State at home and I expect the same issues against the Rockets.
NBA Prediction: Houston Rockets -4
