Magic trying to get on track
Orlando came out of the break with a 122-106 loss at home to Dallas on Friday. The Magic have lost seven of their last 10 games coming into tonight. Orlando is 24-32 on the season, 9-18 on the road, 23-31-2 against the spread and 29-24-3 with the under.
The Magic have the league’s best defense, allowing just 105.7 points per game while opponents shoot 45.9 percent against them. Offensively, Orlando is averaging just 104.0 points per game while shooting a league-worst 43.3 percent from the field. Nikola Vucevic is leading the team with 19.1 points and 10.8 rebounds per game. Evan Fournier is adding 18.8 points per contest.
Nets winning without stars
Brooklyn is without Kyrie Irving for the rest of the season, but the Nets have managed to win three of their last four games coming into tonight after a 115-86 win at Charlotte on Saturday. The Nets are 26-29 on the season, 16-12 at home, 27-28 against the spread and 28-26-1 with the under.
The Nets are averaging 110.5 points per game on offense right now, while shooting 44.4 percent from the field. Defensively, The Nets are giving up 110.6 points per game, while opponents are shooting 44 percent against them. Irving will sit with Kevin Durant for the rest of the season due to his shoulder injury. He was averaging 27.4 points, 5.2 rebounds and 6.4 assists per game. Spencer Dinwiddie is leading the team now with 20.8 points and 6.7 assists per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
Orlando
The Magic are 2-6 against the spread in their last eight games following a loss and 2-10 ATS in their last 12 games overall.
Brooklyn
The Nets have covered the spread in five straight as a home favorite and in seven straight when playing on 1 day of rest.
Prediction:
Orlando won the first meeting with the Nets at home, 101-89 back on Jan. 6. However, the Nets seem to be playing pretty well right now without Irving. It’s become more of a team effort from Brooklyn without him and I like the mindset they have been showing. Their lone losses over their last seven games were an OT loss in Philly and a 1-point loss at Toronto. Orlando isn’t a consistent team in general, and even less consistent on the road. Their lack of offense and guards that can score puts them behind a lot of teams in the NBA.
