Mavs trying to heat up
Dallas came out of the break with a 122-106 win at Orlando last night for a third win in four games. The Mavericks are now 34-22 on the season, 19-8 on the road, 30-23-3 against the spread and 36-20 with the over.
The Mavericks are putting up 116.5 points per game on offense this season while shooting 46.3 percent from the field. Defensively, Dallas is allowing 110.4 points per game while opponents shoot 45.3 percent against them. Luka Doncic is trying to make a run at the MVP this season. He is averaging 29 points, 9.6 rebounds and 8.6 assists per game. Kristaps Porzingis is adding 18.6 points and 9.1 rebounds per contest.
Hawks surprise Miami
Atlanta came off the break with an impressive 129-124 win at home over Miami on Thursday night to end a brief two-game losing streak. The Hawks are now 16-41 overall, 10-17 at home, 26-30-1 against the spread and 34-23 with the over.
The Hawks are putting up 110.5 points per game on offense this season while shooting 44.8 percent from the field. Defensively, Atlanta is giving up 119 points per game while allowing opponents to shoot 47.6 percent from the field. Atlanta is without De’Andre Hunter and Clint Capela to patrol the paint tonight. Trae Young is leading the team with 30.1 points and 9.1 assists per game while John Collins is adding 20.4 points and 10.1 rebounds per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
Dallas
The Mavericks are 21-7-2 against the spread in their last 30 Saturday games and 3-1-1 ATS in their last five games on no rest.
Atlanta
The Hawks are 4-1 against the spread in their last five games as a home underdog, but just 1-5 ATS in their last six games following a win.
Prediction:
These two met back on Feb. 1, with Dallas grabbing a 123-100 win at home as a 4.5-point favorite. I like the Mavs again tonight. While I think Young will be looking to put on a show against Doncic, it’s the lack of defense that the Hawks play that should be the difference. Luka is going to get his points and create easy baskets for his teammates as well. Atlanta is pretty reliant on Young for its offense. I think Porzingis will have a big night in the paint with the Hawks a bit short-handed in that arena.
NBA Prediction: Dallas Mavericks -6
