Bucks atop the East
Milwaukee has the top record in the NBA entering the later stage of the season. The Bucks went into the break coming off a 118-111 loss at Indiana to snap a five-game win streak. Milwaukee is 46-8 on the season, 21-5 on the road, 31-23 against the spread and 27-26-1 with the over.
The Bucks have the league’s top offense in the NBA, averaging 119.6 points per game while shooting 48 percent from the field. Defensively, Milwaukee is allowing 107.5 points per game while holding opponents to just 41.1 percent from the field. The Bucks are led by MVP favorite Giannis Antetokounmpo, who is averaging 30 points, 13.8 rebounds and 5.8 assists per game. Khris Middleton is adding 20.4 points, 6.1 rebounds and 4.3 assists per contest.
Pistons in tank mode
Detroit is riding a four-game losing streak entering the post-All-Star Break. The Pistons are coming off a 116-112 loss at Orlando eight days ago. Detroit is 19-38 overall, 11-19 at home, 21-35-1 against the spread and 34-23 with the over.
The Pistons are putting up just 108 points per game on offense this season, while shooting 46.1 percent from the field. Defensively, Detroit is allowing 110.6 points per game while allowing opponents to shoot 47.5 percent from the field. The Pistons traded away Andre Drummond before the trade deadline and just agreed to a buyout with Reggie Jackson. Both Blake Griffin and Luke Kennard are also currently out with injuries. Derrick Rose is currently leading the team with 18.2 points and 5.8 assists per game.
NBA Betting Trends
Milwaukee
The Bucks have covered the spread in five straight as a favorite and in five of their last six as a road favorite.
Detroit
The Pistons are 13-29-1 against the spread in their last 43 games as an underdog and 4-14 ATS in their last 18 home games.
Prediction:
The Bucks have won and covered in both meetings with the Pistons this year, including a 24-point win in Detroit back in December. This is a big spread to cover on the road, but I think the Bucks will be just fine. The Pistons are running with a young and inexperienced lineup that is likely to get overwhelmed by this Milwaukee offense. As long as the Bucks don’t take the night off, they should be able to cover this spread on the road.
NBA Prediction: Milwaukee Bucks -13
