Mavericks to land Stoudemire
DALLAS, TX (TheSpread) – After being released by the New York Knicks just a few days ago, Amar’e Stoudemire appears to be set to join the Dallas Mavericks shortly.
Reports from ESPN have Stoudemire committing to join the Mavericks in hopes to improve their chances of winning another NBA Championship. Stoudemire was officially waved by the Knicks on Monday and then agreed to a deal with Dallas later that night. The deal can’t be official until Stoudemire clears waivers on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Mavericks currently have 14/1 odds to win the NBA Finals this season. The Golden State Warriors are the current favorites with 3/1 odds while the Cleveland Cavaliers have 15/4 odds.
Dallas is currently 36-19 on the season and eight games out of first place in the Western Conference. The Mavericks trail the Memphis Grizzlies by four games in the Southwest Division and are one game behind the Houston Rockets in the division standings as well. Dallas has won six of its last 10 entering the All-Star break. Stoudemire is averaging 12 points and 6.8 rebounds per game this season.
