Lakers rally at Boston
Los Angeles put an end to their brief 2-game losing streak on Thursday with a 129-128 win at Boston. The Lakers are 3-1 against the spread on their current road trip. Los Angeles is 35-20 on the season, 12-15 on the road, 24-29-2 against the spread and 33-21-1 with the under.
The Lakers are struggling on defense this season, allowing 112.8 points per game despite holding opponents to just 44.6 percent shooting. Offensively, Los Angeles is putting up 112.1 points per game while shooting 47.3 percent form the field. The team will have some new additions available today in Reggie Bullock and Mike Muscala, who the Lakers traded for this week. LeBron James is leading the team with 27 points, 8.5 rebounds and 7.4 assists per contest while Kyle Kuzma is adding 18.7 points per game.
76ers bounce back
Philadelphia is coming off a 117-110 win over the Nuggets at home to put and end to a 2-game losing streak. The 76ers are now 35-20 on the season, 22-6 at home, 26-29 against the spread and 29-26 with the over.
The 76ers are one of the top offenses in the NBA, averaging 115.4 points per game while shooting 47.2 percent from the field. Defensively, Philadelphia is giving up 112.1 points per game while opponents shoot 45.3 percent against them. Joel Embiid is questionable to play today due to an illness. He is leading the team this season with 27.2 points and 13.5 rebounds per contest. Ben Simmons is adding 16.9 points, 9.3 rebounds and 8.0 assists per game.
NBA Betting Trends
Los Angeles
The Lakers are 5-1 against the spread in their last six road games, but 5-16-1 ATS in its last 22 games against Eastern Conference opponents.
Philadelphia
The 76ers are just 2-5 against the spread in their last seven Sunday games and 1-4 ATS in their last five games following a win.
Prediction:
The 76ers earned a 121-105 win at Los Angeles on Jan. 29, but that was without LeBron in the lineup. It’s unknown if Embiid is going to play today. If he isn’t that will certainly hurt the 76ers ability to cover. However, if he does suit up, I like Philly at home. The 76ers have far too much scoring depth for the Lakers. Adding Tobias Harris has given Philly a tremendous starting five, while the Lakers are still a bit of a mess outside of LeBron.
NBA Prediction: Philadelphia 76ers -7
