Charlotte Hornets Fantasy Spin
Kemba Walker kept it rolling on offense during a 99-93 loss to the Mavs on Wednesday, scoring 30 points with 11 rebounds, six assists, two steals and four 3-pointers in 37 minutes. He may be out of his slump with three straight 30-plus scoring games, averaging 33.0 points, 7.3 boards, 8.3 dimes, 2.0 steals and 4.3 treys on a 46/43/96 shooting line. The Hornets and Kemba both have made it clear they want to stay together long term, so a Kemba trade tomorrow would be a stunner. If he can keep his efficiency up and the Hornets stay in the hunt, he should be valuable down the stretch. A Marc Gasol addition would help him, too.
Atlanta Hawks Fantasy Spin
Trae Young bounced back during a 119-101 loss to the Raptors on Thursday, scoring 19 points with five rebounds, five assists, one steal and one 3-pointer in 29 minutes. He struggled in the last game with a 2-of-13 shooting line, but Young going for an NBA rookie record of 23-plus points and eight-plus dimes in five straight more than offsets that dud. He continues to get in the paint more and he’s been at a very respectable 45 FG% in 2019. Young should be a solid fantasy asset going forward.
NBA Betting Trends
Charlotte
The Hornets are 8-3 against the spread in their last 11 games versus the Hawks while the favorite has cashed in seven of the previous nine meetings between these two teams.
Atlanta
The Hawks have dropped four of their last five games against the spread at home.
Prediction
The home team has had ATS success in this series, posting a 14-5-1 record against the spread in the previous 20 meetings. The Hawks have also been profitable recently off a loss, cashing in five of their last seven games following a straight up defeat and going 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games coming off an ATS loss. The Hornets, meanwhile, have not been strong on the road, posting a 4-10 spread record in their last 14 road games and going just 2-7 against the number in their last nine games playing on two days of rest.
