According to oddsmakers from online sportsbook BetNow.eu, the Warriors are 15.5-point favorites to beat the Suns. The total, meanwhile, sits at 231 points and as of this writing, 63% of the public betting tickets wagered at online sportsbooks are on the Warriors to cover the point spread.
Golden State Warriors Fantasy Spin
Kevin Durant helped the Warriors pull away for an easy win on Wednesday, scoring 23 points on 9-of-13 shooting with eight rebounds, nine assists, three steals, and three 3-pointers. The Warriors’ 42 assists tonight were an NBA season high, and they had a franchise-record 16 dimes in the third quarter alone — all but one of their makes were assisted in the quarter. Durant wasn’t in a celebratory mood after the game, though, calling the media focus on trades and free agency “unnecessary.” He said the media needs to “grow up” and suggested he may simply stonewall reporters when he feels it’s necessary. Fortunately, none of this off-court drama is impacting his perennially elite fantasy output.
Dallas Mavericks Fantasy Spin
Devin Booker (right hamstring tightness) is listed as questionable for Friday’s game vs. the Warriors. Booker was listed ‘out’ early in the day prior to Wednesday’s game, so this is at least a step in the right direction. The looming All-Star break may tempt the Suns to give their star a prolonged rest, but for now we’ll assume he’s truly day-to-day.
NBA Betting Trends
Golden State
The Warriors are 9-1 against the spread in their last 10 road games versus a team with a home winning percentage of less than .400.
Phoenix
The Suns are 1-6 against the spread in their last seven games when their opponent allows 100 points or more in their previous game.
Prediction
This is a lot of points in a major letdown spot for Golden State but I’m going to lay them anyway. The Warriors are 7-1 against the spread in their last eight games versus the Suns and have covered for straight in Phoenix. The road team and favorite have also had success in this series, with the road squad covering in four of its last five games and the favorite cashing in seven of the previous eight meetings. I took a flier on the Suns the other night when they were on the road in Utah and while they kept things relatively close in the third quarter, their talent was exposed in the Jazz’s 37-17 fourth-quarter run. The Suns are just 3-7 against the spread in their last 10 home games and 2-6 ATs in their last eight games overall so they’re not only losing, they’re getting blown out.
Friday NBA Prediction: Golden State Warriors -15.5
