Thunder on fire
Oklahoma City is playing its best basketball of the season right now. The Thunder have won seven straight and are 6-1 against the spread during this run. They are coming off a 118-102 win at Miami on Friday night. The Thunder are 33-18 on the season, 16-11 on the road, 29-22 against the spread and 27-24 with the over.
The Thunder were struggling on offense early in the year, but now rank fifth in the NBA in scoring at 114.5 points per game. Defensively, OKC is giving up 109.3 points per game. Russell Westbrook is averaging 21.5 points, 10.9 rebounds and 10.9 assists per game this season while Paul George is putting up 27.6 points and 8.0 rebounds per contest.
Celtics playing well too
Boston has won three straight and eight of its last nine following a 113-99 win at New York on Friday night. The Celtics are now 33-19 on the season, 21-6 at home, 27-25 against the spread and 30-22 with the over.
The Celtics have one of the league’s top defenses, allowing just 105.5 points per game while limiting opponents to 44 percent shooting. Offensively, Boston is putting up 112.4 points per game. The Celtics will be without center Aron Baynes today due to a foot injury, which could open up the paint for OKC. The Celtics are led by Kyrie Irving, who averages 23.6 points and 6.9 assists per contest while Jayson Tatum adds 16.2 points and 6.1 rebounds per game.
NBA Betting Trends
Oklahoma City
The Thunder have covered the spread in four straight road games and in five straight against Eastern Conference opponents.
Boston
The Celtics are 36-17 against the spread in their last 53 home games and 15-7 ATS in their last 22 following a win.
Prediction:
Boston took the first meeting of the season back on Oct. 25 at OKC. However, that was a long time ago. The Thunder look as good as anyone right now, as they are averaging over 120 points during this win streak. The Celtics have had a nice run as of late as well, but they have also played the bottom half of the East during most of their wins. I think the Thunder will be able to expose Boston’s lack of a frontcourt presence today, as they attack the paint early and get some outside shots from the likes of George.
