Heat slip up at home
The Miami Heat are coming off a 109-101 loss at home to Boston on Tuesday night for a second loss in three games. They are just 1-3 against the spread in their last four. Miami is now 32-15 on the season, 11-12 on the road, 26-19-2 against the spread and 28-18-1 with the over.
Miami is putting up 112 points per game on offense this year while shooting 47.1 percent from the field and 37.6 percent from the arc. Defensively, the Heat are giving up 108.3 points per game while opponents shoot 44.4 percent against them. The Heat are expected to get Kendrick Nunn back today after he has missed recent games with an Achilles injury. He averages 16.2 points per game this season. Jimmy Butler is leading the team with 20.2 points, 6.9 rebounds and 6.4 assists per contest. Bam Adebayo is adding 16.0 points and 10.4 rebounds per game.
Magic continue slide
Orlando is riding a four-game losing streak following a 113-92 loss at Miami on Monday. The Magic have lost and failed to cover in six of their last seven games. The Magic are 21-27 on the season, 13-11 at home, 21-25-2 against the spread and 27-19-2 with the under.
The Magic have the league’s top defense, allowing only 104.7 points per game while opponents shoot 45.6 percent against them. Offensively, Orlando is averaging just 103.5 points per game while shooting only 43.1 percent from the field. The Magic could be without their leading scorer tonight as Evan Fournier is questionable with a back injury. He averages 18.8 points per game. Nikola Vucevic is leading the team with 18.6 points and 11.0 rebounds per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
Miami
The Heat are just 2-5 against the spread in their last seven road games and 1-6 ATS in their last seven as a road favorite.
Orlando
The Magic are 1-4 against the spread in their last five games as a home underdog and 0-5 ATS in their last five against a winning team.
Prediction:
The home team has won and covered in both meetings today, as both games were quite lopsided. Despite that, I don’t feel good about Orlando right now. The Magic have scored under 100 points in three straight and five of their last seven. They could be without their leading scorer tonight as well. Miami is a team that can shoot very well. While they haven’t been consistent on the road, I think they can find enough offense to get past this Orlando squad. The Magic defend well, but I don’t think their defense will overcome their offensive shortcomings today.
NBA Prediction: Miami Heat -2.5
