Celtics rolling
Boston is coming off a 126-94 win over Charlotte on Wednesday for its seventh win in eight games. The Celtics are 32-19 overall, 11-13 on the road, 26-25 against the spread and 30-21 with the over.
The Celtics have one of the top defenses in the NBA, allowing just 105.6 points per game while limiting opponents to 44 percent shooting from the field and 33.5 percent shooting from the arc. Offensively, Boston is putting up 112.4 points per game. Kyrie Irving is probable to play tonight despite a hip injury. He is leading the team with 23.7 points and 6.9 assists per game while Jayson Tatum is adding 16.3 points and 6.2 rebounds per contest.
Knicks make shocking trade
New York is coming off a 114-90 loss at home to Dallas on Wednesday for an 11th straight loss. The Knicks then made a mega-trade with the Mavericks yesterday, sending Kristaps Porzingis, Courtney Lee, Tim Hardaway Jr. and Trey Burke to Dallas for Dennis Smith Jr., DeAndre Jordan, Wesley Matthews and two future first-round draft picks. New York is 10-40 on the season, 4-18 at home, 22-27-1 against the spread and 25-25 with the over/under.
The Knicks have been a mess most of the year, averaging just 106.3 points per game on offense while shooting a league-worst 43.1 percent. Defensively, New York is giving up 115 points per game while allowing opponents to shoot 47.6 percent against them. Along with the trade, the Knicks will be without Emmanuel Mudiay tonight due to his shoulder injury. Enes Kanter is the current active scoring leader on the team with 14.1 points and 10.6 rebounds per game while rookie Kevin Knox is adding 12.3 points per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
Boston
The Celtics are just 1-4 against the spread in their last five road games, but 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games following a win of 10 points or more.
New York
The Knicks are just 2-10 against the spread in their last 12 home games and 2-7 ATS in their last nine games when playing on 1 day of rest.
Prediction:
The Knicks were already bad at full strength but now the team is completely depleted by the trade and Dallas players making the move to New York, It’s unclear if any of them will be available today, but they haven’t had a chance to really practice with the team. Dallas was able to be competitive last night with Detroit, but the Mavs are trying to make a move this season. New York is clearly in tank mode now. The Celtics beat the Knicks by 28 in December and I think they will completely dominate New York tonight. As long as Boston doesn’t overlook New York and allow the Knicks to hang around, Boston should cruise.
NBA Prediction: Boston Celtics -13.5
