Mavs continue road trip
Dallas is in the midst of a road trip. They are coming off a 112-107 loss at Utah on Saturday and are 1-1 thus far through the first two games of the road trip. The Mavericks are 28-17 overall, 15-6 on the road, 23-19-3 against the spread and 27-18 with the over.
The Mavericks are putting up 116.6 points per game on offense this season, which ranks third in the league. They are shooting 46.3 percent as a team. Defensively, Dallas gives up 109.8 points per contest while holding opponents to 45 percent from the field. The Mavericks are expected to be with their new piece tonight as they traded for Willie Cauley-Stein last weekend. Luka Doncic is leading the team with 29 points, 9.5 rebounds and 8.9 assists per contest. Kristaps Porzingis is adding 17.1 points and 9.0 rebounds per contest.
Thunder on fire
Oklahoma City is riding a five-game win streak right now following a 113-104 win at Minnesota. The Thunder have covered in all five wins during this streak. OKC is 28-19 on the season, 15-9 at home, 32-15 against the spread and 24-23 with the under.
The Thunder are a solid defensive team, allowing just 108.1 points per game this season while opponents shoot 45.6 percent against them. Offensively, OKC is putting up 110.6 points per game while shooting 47.2 percent as a team. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is leading OKC with 19.7 points, 6.0 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game. Danilo Gallinari is adding 19.1 points and 5.8 rebounds per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
Dallas
The Mavericks are 18-5-3 against the spread in their last 26 road games and 4-1-1 ATS in their last six games as a favorite.
Oklahoma City
The Thunder are 9-3 against the spread in their last 12 games as a home underdog and 20-7 ATS in their last 27 games following a win.
Prediction:
Oklahoma City owns a 106-101 win at home over Dallas on New Year’s Eve already and I feel good about the Thunder tonight as well. OKC is on a five-game win streak right now, with three solid wins on the road. The Thunder are already a pretty solid team at home and I think the Mavericks are going to have trouble with their defense tonight. Dallas has come up short against other solid defensive teams like the Jazz and Clippers as of late. They also lost to the Nuggets and Lakers in recent weeks. OKC won’t let Dallas get into a track meet.
NBA Prediction: Oklahoma City Thunder +1
