Houston looks for three straight
Houston is seeking a third straight win today after beating the Nuggets at home earlier in the week and winning at Minnesota on Friday. The Rockets are 28-16 on the season, 13-9 on the road, 21-23 against the spread and 25-19 with the under.
The Rockets are putting up 118.7 points per game on offense this season while shooting 45.4 percent from the field. Defensively, Houston is giving up 114.2 points per game while opponents shoot 45.6 percent from the field. James Harden is questionable to play tonight due to a thigh injury. He is averaging 36.1 points, 6.2 rebounds and 7.3 assists per contest. Russell Westbrook is adding 25.8 points, 8.1 rebounds and 7.4 assists per game for Houston.
Nuggets return home
Denver wrapped a three-game road trip on Friday with a 113-106 win at New Orleans. The Nuggets were 2-1 in their road trip. Denver is now 31-14 on the season, 17-6 at home, 19-22-4 against the spread and 26-19 with the under.
The Nuggets are giving up just 106 points per game on defense while opponents shoot 45.4 percent against them. Offensively, Denver is putting up 109.3 points per game while opponents shoot 46.1 percent against them. Denver is without the likes of Jamal Murray, Paul Millsap and Mason Plumlee tonight due to injury. Nikola Jokic is leading the team with 19.6 points, 10.0 rebounds and 6.4 assists per game. Will Barton is adding 14.9 points, 6.6 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game.
NBA Betting Trends
Houston
The Rockets are 11-4 against the spread in their last 15 games as a road underdog, but 2-5 ATS in their last seven games following a win.
Denver
The Nuggets are 2-6-2 against the spread in their last 10 home games and 2-9 ATS in their last 11 games following a win.
Prediction:
The home team has won and covered the spread in all three meetings this year, so I am going to ride the trend and say Denver gets the job done today. Harden won’t be 100 percent if he plays, so that takes a lot of offense away from the Rockets. Westbrook has proven he can’t really lead Houston consistently on his own. The Rockets don’t shoot a high percent and are facing a team that plays good defense, so I expect Houston to struggle to find consistent points.
NBA Prediction: Denver Nuggets -2
