According to the latest oddsmakers, the Magic are the slim favorite at home, as they are getting odds of -1 point against the Celtics. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 212.5 points. The public betting currently has 61 percent on the Magic as the home favorite. This information is subject to change, however, so be sure to check out our NBA Public Betting Page for updated figures on the game.
Celtics strong at home
Boston is coming off impressive home wins over the Lakers and Grizzlies, each by over 20 points. The Celtics are 29-14 on the season, 11-9 on the road, 25-16-2 against the spread and 23-20 with the under.
The Celtics have been good on both sides of the ball this year. They are allowing just 105.4 points per game while holding opponents to 44.6 percent shooting. Offensively, Boston is putting up 112.5 points per game while shooting 46.1 percent. Boston could be without some key players tonight. Enes Kanter is out with a hip injury while Jayson Tatum (groin) and Jaylen Brown (ankle) are both questionable. Tatum and Brown both average over 20 points and 6.5 rebounds per contest. Kemba Walker is leading the team with 21.7 points, 4.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists per contest.
Magic drop home return
Orlando wrapped up a six-game road trip on Monday, but then returned home on Wednesday and suffered a 120-114 loss at home to Oklahoma City. The Magic have lost and failed to cover in three of their last four games. Orlando are 21-24 on the season, 13-9 at home, 21-22-2 against the spread and 24-19-2 with the under.
The Magic are the league’s top defensive team this year, allowing just 104.3 points per game while opponents shoot 45.4 percent against them. Offensively, Orlando is giving up 104 points per game while opponents shoot 43.4 percent against them. Nikola Vucevic is leading the team with 19.0 points, 11.1 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game. Evan Fournier is adding 18.9 points per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
Boston
The Celtics are 8-1 against the spread in their last nine games as an underdog and 5-2 ATS in their last seven road games.
Orlando
The Magic are 8-3 against the spread in their last 11 games as a favorite and 4-1 ATS in their last five games following a loss.
Prediction:
The Magic have won and covered in three straight against Boston, but the two haven’t met this season. The Celtics have been very interesting in recent weeks, picking up some impressive wins while suffering some surprising losses. The Magic are a good defensive team, so they could give Boston some problems, but if the Celtics find ways to score, Orlando doesn’t have the firepower to respond. I think Orlando will be able to contain Boston, especially with the Celtics battling some injuries. I look for this game to be a grind, which should favor Orlando at home.
NBA Prediction: Orlando Magic -1
