Lakers win, but don’t cover
After a 139-107 loss at Boston on Monday, the Lakers bounced back on Wednesday night with a 100-92 win at New York. However, they failed to cover as an 11.5-point favorite. Los Angeles is 35-9 on the season, 19-4 on the road, 23-20-1 against the spread and 23-21 with the under.
Los Angeles is putting up 113.7 points per game this year while shooting a league-best 48.4 percent from the floor. Defensively, the Lakers are allowing 106.1 points per game while opponents shoot 44 percent against them. LeBron James is leading the team with 25.1 points, 7.6 rebounds and 10.8 assists per game. Anthony Davis is adding 26.6 points, 9.1 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per contest.
Nets keep sliding
Brooklyn is coming off a 117-111 loss at home to the 76ers on Monday. The Nets have lost four straight, failing to cover the spread in all four games. Brooklyn is 18-24 on the season, 11-11 at home, 18-24 against the spread and 21-20-1 with the under.
The Nets are putting up 109.3 points per game this season while shooting 44 percent as a team. Defensively, Brooklyn is giving up 111.6 points per game while holding opponents to 43.8 percent shooting. NBA Betting Trends
Los Angeles
The Lakers are 4-1 against the spread in their last five road games, but 4-10-1 ATS in their last 15 games as a favorite.
Brooklyn
The Nets are 1-9 against the spread in their last 10 games following a loss and 0-7 ATS in their last seven Thursday games.
Prediction:
This is the first meeting between these two teams. The Lakers are playing their third road game in four nights. They have failed to cover in the first two, so it makes it hard to trust them tonight. The Nets have dropped four straight, three of which have been at home. However, they have been off since Monday. Irving is a prideful player and he can’t feel good about how Brooklyn has been playing since his return. This is a statement game for him and I think he will lead the Nets past the tired Lakers.
NBA Prediction: Brooklyn Nets +5.5
