Mavs edged by Clippers
Dallas is coming off a 110-107 loss at home to the Clippers on Tuesday night, putting an end to a four-game win streak. The Mavericks are 27-16 on the season, 14-5 on the road, 22-19-2 against the spread and 26-17 with the over.
The Mavericks are a solid offense, averaging 116.4 points per game while shooting 46.2 percent from the field. Defensively, Dallas is allowing 109.4 points per game while opponents shoot 44.9 percent from the field. The team just lost Dwight Powell for the season with an Achilles injury. He averaged 9.4 points and 5.7 rebounds per game. Luka Doncic is leading the team with 29.1 points, 9.7 rebounds and 9.0 assists per game. Kristaps Porzingis is adding 17.0 points and 9.4 rebounds per game.
Blazers struggling to cover
Portland is coming off a 129-124 OT win at home over the Warriors. However, the Blazers failed to cover in the win and they are just 1-6 against the spread in their last seven games. Portland is 19-26 on the season, 10-10 at home, 16-27-2 against the spread and 23-22 with the over.
The Blazers are putting up 111.9 points per game on offense while shooting 45 percent from the floor. Defensively, Portland is giving up 114.1 points per game while opponents shoot 44.5 percent against them. CJ McCollum is questionable to play tonight due to his ankle injury. He has been out since injuring himself last weekend against the Mavs. He averages 21.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game. Damian Lillard is leading the team with 27.9 points, 4.1 rebounds and 7.6 assists per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
Dallas
The Mavericks are 20-6-2 against the spread in their last 28 road games and 10-2-1 ATS in their last 13 games as a road favorite.
Portland
The Blazers are 2-9 against the spread in their last 11 games as an underdog and 0-6-1 ATS in their last seven home games.
Prediction:
Dallas picked up a 120-112 win at home over Portland last weekend, covering as a 7.5-point favorite as well. The Blazers did win and cover in the first meeting back in October. The Mavs are coming off a loss to the Clippers, but Dallas has been playing well and their recent losses have been to some of the best teams in the NBA right now. Portland could be without McCollum again and we have seen it pretty much comes down to Lillard to do it all in that situation. Even with McCollum, Portland doesn’t play enough defense for me to believe they can stop Dallas consistently.
NBA Prediction: Dallas Mavericks -2
