Martin out, Pelicans favored on road
MINNEAPOLIS, MN (The Spread) – With Kevin Martin out with a wrist injury, the Timberwolves are a sizable home underdog on Friday night versus the Pelicans.
Martin will not play tonight for Minnesota as he continues to battle a wrist injury. He left a shootaround with a brace on his wrist and told reporters that he’s “not ready” to play yet. He had been questionable to return for the Timberwolves the last three games but he’s reportedly dealing with swelling in his wrist and will be out until at least Sunday.
The Pelicans also received bad news earlier in the week when it was announced that Jrue Holiday will be out another 2-4 weeks with a stress reaction in his lower leg. He also missed half of the 2013-14 NBA season due to a tibia fracture and has missed the past five games for the Pelicans. Tyreke Evans and Eric Gordon will continue to see bigger roles as Holiday remains sidelined.
The Pelicans are currently 6.5-point favorites over the Timberwolves at the MGM Mirage in Las Vegas for tonight’s game in Minnesota. The home team is a perfect 7-0 against the spread in the last seven meetings between these two teams while the over is 6-2 in the last eight meetings.
