Lakers bounce back
Los Angeles is coming off a 124-115 win at Houston on Saturday after suffering a 1-point loss at home to the Magic a few days prior. Los Angeles has won nine of its last 10 while covering in five of their last six. The Lakers are 34-8 on the season, 18-3 on the road, 23-18-1 against the spread and 22-20 with the under.
The Lakers are putting up 114.2 points per game this season while shooting a league-best 48.6 percent from the field. Defensively, Los Angeles is allowing just 105.6 points per game while holding opponents to 43.8 percent shooting. The Lakers have been without Anthony Davis due to a tailbone injury while Rajon Rondo is questionable to go tonight with a finger injury. Davis hasn’t been ruled out as of yet, but he hasn’t played since Jan. 7. Davis averages 27.1 points and 9.4 rebounds per game. LeBron James is putting up 25.5 points, 7.7 rebounds and 10.9 assists per contest.
Celtics drop third straight
Boston has been a bit helter skelter as of late, losing three straight and six of their last eight coming into tonight. That includes home losses to the Suns, Pistons and Spurs. The Celtics are now 27-14 on the season, 16-5 at home, 23-16-2 against the spread and 22-19 with the under.
The Celtics are allowing just 105.6 points per game this season while opponents are held to 44.6 percent shooting against them. Offensively, Boston is averaging 111.7 points per game while shooting 45.7 percent from the floor. Jaylen Brown and Kemba Walker are both listed as questionable for tonight’s game due to injury. Both average over 20 points per game this season. Jayson Tatum is putting up 21.3 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game for the Celtics.
NBA Betting Trends
Los Angeles
The Lakers are 4-0 against the spread in their last four road games and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games following a cover.
Boston
The Celtics are just 2-6 against the spread in their last eight home games and 4-9 ATS in their last 13 Monday games.
Prediction:
These two have yet to meet this season, but the road team covered in both meetings last season. I like the road team tonight as well. With or without Davis, the Lakers are playing at a high level and LeBron is playing some of his best basketball right now. His ability to create offense has really pushed the Lakers offensively and their defense has been consistent as well. Boston has lacked consistency on both sides of the ball the last few weeks and could be without a pair of big scorers. Even at full strength, I see Los Angeles as the better team.
