Raptors vs. Nets Prediction
The Nets are double-digit home underdogs tonight against the Raptors at 7:30PM ET. Is Brooklyn worth a play for bettors?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, the Nets are 11-point home underdogs versus the Raptors while the over/under currently sits at 227 points. Brooklyn opened as an 11-point underdog so the spread hasn’t moved, but the total has dropped slightly from 228 down to 227.
The Raptors are coming off a win and a successful cover in a 116-101 home victory versus the Knicks on Sunday. Kyle Lowry scored 16 points on six-of-10 shooting to go with two 3-pointers, four rebounds, nine assists, one steal, one block and just one turnover. DeMar DeRozan, meanwhile, scored 23 points with five rebounds, five assists and two turnovers in 28 minutes.
The Nets have now lost 10-straight games and they haven’t covered a point spread in five consecutive contests. In their 137-112 loss to the Rockets as a 14.5-point home underdog, Trevor Booker scored 18 points while Rondae Hollis-Jefferson added 14 points and seven rebounds. Brooklyn is now an atrocious 8-32 on the year and 18-20 against the spread.

OUR PREDICTION: There’s a reason why the Nets are a massive home underdog and while the numbers suggest that Brooklyn should cover (for example, the Raptors are only winning by an average margin of 2.2 points on the road this season), don’t bet on bad teams. If you bet on bad teams you’ll get what you pay for over the long run. Thus, let’s take a look at the total. The over is 4-1 in the Raptors’ last five games overall and is 12-5 in their last 17 conference games. On the other side, the over is 16-6 in the Nets’ last 22 games coming off a loss of more than 10 points and is 17-7 in their last 24 games coming off a failed cover.
