Suns unable to get going
Phoenix is struggling to get on track, as they haven’t been able to sustain winning. They are coming off a 123-110 loss at Atlanta on Tuesday night and have failed to cover in five straight games. The Suns are 16-24 on the season, 7-10 on the road, 20-19-1 against the spread and 22-18 with the over.
The Suns are solid on offense, but struggle defensively this season. Phoenix is allowing 113.1 points per game while shooting 46.2 percent from the field. Defensively, the Suns are giving up 114.3 points per game while opponents shoot 47.4 percent against them. Phoenix will be without Kelly Oubre Jr. tonight due to a concussion. He is averaging 18.3 points and 6.3 rebounds per game this season. Devin Booker is leading the team with 26.1 points and 6.4 assists per contest.
Knicks beat up
New York is dealing with some injuries, which isn’t helping the already struggling team do anything special. The Knicks have lost six of their last seven following a 128-102 loss at Milwaukee. New York is now 11-30 on the season, 6-13 at home, 20-21 against the spread and 22-19 with the under.
The Knicks are struggling on offense this year, scoring just 104.8 points per game while shooting 43.4 percent from the field. Defensively, New York is giving up 113.2 points per game while opponents shoot 46.7 percent against them. Marcus Morris Sr. has missed recent games with a neck injury and is questionable to play tonight. He leads the team with 19.1 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. Julius Randle is adding 18.8 points and 9.2 rebounds per game.
NBA Betting Trends
Phoenix
The Suns have failed to cover in five straight games as a favorite and in four straight against a team with a winning percentage below .400.
New York
The Knicks are 1-4 against the spread in their last five games as an underdog, but 5-2 ATS in their last seven home games against a team with a losing road record.
Prediction:
These two met back on Jan. 3 with Phoenix getting a 120-112 win at home. Despite that, it is really hard to trust the Suns as a road favorite. The Knicks have been somewhat competitive at home as of late, beating the Heat and Blazers in recent home games. The Suns give up nearly 115 points per game on the road and their offense is likely to be a little less impactful tonight without Oubre available. I think this is a chance for the Knicks to grab a win, or at least cover a spread.
