Magic fall in Phoenix
Orlando is in the early stages of a West Coast road trip and they opened that trip with a 98-94 loss at Phoenix on Friday. They still managed to cover and have covered in five of their last six. The Magic are 18-21 on the season, 5-13 on the road, 18-19-2 against the spread and 22-16-1 with the under.
The Magic are the best defensive team in the NBA, but the worst offensive team. They are giving up only 103.3 points per game while opponents shoot 44.8 percent from the field. Offensively, Orlando is putting up 103.5 points per game while shooting only 43.2 percent from the floor. Both DJ Augustin and Aaron Carter are questionable for tonight’s game due to injuries. Nikola Vucevic is leading the team with 18.5 points, 11.3 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game. Evan Fournier is adding 19.0 points and 3.2 assists per contest.
Kings run over by Bucks
Sacramento is coming off a 127-106 loss at home to Milwaukee at home on Friday. That ended a brief 2-game win streak for the Kings. They are now 15-24 on the season, 8-11 at home, 20-19 against the spread and 22-17 with the under.
The Kings are putting up 106.2 points per game while shooting 45.2 percent from the field on offense this year. Defensively, Sacramento is allowing 109 points per game while opponents shoot 46.6 percent against them. Bogdan Bogdanovic and Richaun Holmes are out tonight due to injury. They both average double figures in scoring. Buddy Hield is leading the team with 20.3 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game. De’Aaron Fox is adding 18.3 points, 4.1 rebound sand 6.9 assists per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
Orlando
The Magic are 7-3-1 against the spread in their last 11 road games and 4-1 ATS in their last five games when playing on two days of rest.
Sacramento
The Kings are 2-6 against the spread in their last eight games as a home favorite and 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games as a favorite overall.
Prediction:
These two haven’t met this season, but the Kings have had Orlando’s number for a while, winning and covering the spread in five straight. While I like the Magic on paper, I can’t ignore these trends. The Magic struggle with offense and their defense certainly doesn’t quite hold up on the road, especially out West. Without a few key pieces, that offense is only going to struggle more. The Kings are getting a little healthier with Marvin Bagley III returning to action. I think their young legs at home will be a little too much for this defensive-minded Orlando squad.
