Pistons vs. Blazers Pick
Which struggling team will grab a big win tonight at 10PM ET when the Portland Trail Blazers host the Detroit Pistons?
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Blazers are the slight favorite at home, as Portland is getting odds of -2.5 points against the Pistons. The over/under total for the game is listed at 213.5points. Detroit has won and covered in two straight meetings with Portland, but the two are meeting for the first time this season.

Detroit is coming off a 115-114 win over the Hornets at home on Thursday, but the Pistons nearly blew a big lead in the fourth quarter to hang on. Detroit is now 17-21 overall and 17-21 against the spread. The Pistons are just 1-4 against the spread in their last five games. Normally a strong defense that is giving up just 99.7 points per game for the season, the Pistons have allowed at least 105 points in four of their last five. Detroit averages just 99.6 points per game on offense, so if they can’t stop anyone, it’s trouble. Tobias Harris and Reggie Jackson are each averaging 16 points per game while Andre Drummond is putting up 14.5 points and 13.4 rebounds per game.
The Blazers are coming off a 118-109 win over the Lakers at home to move to 16-22 on the year. Portland has covered the spread in three straight and five of its last six to move to 16-22 ATS on the season. The Blazers put up a lot of points, averaging 107.8 points per contest. However, the Blazers are one of the worst defensive teams in the NBA, allowing 111.2 points per game. Damian Lillard is leading Portland with 26.8 points and 6.3 assists per game while CJ McCollum is averaging 23.3 points per contest.

The Blazers are a mess on defense this season, but Detroit really hasn’t been much better in recent weeks. The big difference here is that Portland can actually score consistently, while the Pistons can’t. Detroit is a team that has to win with defense and its defense has been awful. I don’t see Detroit going out West and beating Portland in a shootout.
