Pelicans end win streak
New Orleans ended its four-game win streak last night in a 123-113 loss at the Lakers. However, the Pelicans have covered in five straight. The Pelicans are 11-24 on the season, 5-13 on the road, 14-19-2 against the spread and 18-17 with the under.
The Pelicans are struggling defensively this year, allowing 116.6 points per game while opponents shoot 46.7 percent against them. Offensively, New Orleans is putting up 112.3 points per game while shooting 44.8 percent as a team. Brandon Ingram is leading the team with 25.2 points, 6.9 rebounds and 3.8 assists per contest. Jrue Holiday is adding 19.6 points, 4.8 rebounds and 6.5 assists per contest.
Kings end skid
Sacramento ended its eight-game losing streak on Thursday night in a 128-123 win over Memphis at home. The Kings are 13-22 on the season, 7-9 at home, 18-17 against the spread and 20-15 with the under.
The Kings are scoring just 105.6 points per game this season while shooting 45.1 percent from the field. Defensively, Sacramento is giving up 108.7 points per game while opponents shoot 46.7 percent from the field. Sacramento is going to be without Bogdan Bogdanovic and Marvin Bagley III due to injury. They both average over 13 points per game. Buddy Hield is leading the way with 20.4 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.1 assists per contest. De’Aaron Fox is adding 17.6 points and 6.9 assists per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
New Orleans
The Pelicans are 3-1-2 against the spread in their last six road games and 5-1 ATS in their last six games on no rest.
Sacramento
The Kings are 1-4 against the spread in their last five games as a favorite and 2-7 ATS in their last nine overall.
Prediction:
While the Pelicans played last night, they still have really turned it on over recent weeks. Their offense is hitting their stride while their defense has held three of their last five opponents to 100 points or less. Sacramento is a team that hasn’t tended to do well in shootouts and I think New Orleans has enough talent to make sure this is a game won with pacing on offense. The Kings are without some key pieces and the Pelicans are trying to prove they can still make something of their season. I will take my chances on them as a road underdog.
