BURTON WINS AT DOVER

For the first time in 175 races Jeff Burton was able to pull his car into Victory Lane after a Nextel Cup Race. For you math wizards out there that is almost 5 years since Burtons last Cup Series victory. Making the win even sweeter is the fact that now Burton also finds himself atop the Nextel Cup points standings by 6 points over second place Jeff Gordon.

Burton didn't lead a lap all day until 6 laps from the finish when he was able to squeeze by Matt Kenseth after a fierce battle for several laps.

Harvick Sweeps Richmond, Chase For The Nextel Cup is Set

Kevin Harvick passed Kyle Busch on second to last lap to win his second race in as many days. Friday night Harvick dominated the Busch Series race at Richmond, much like he has the whole season.

The surprise of the night though might be Tony Stewart. The defending Nextel Cup Championship finds himself leaving Richmond on the outside of this years Chase. His 18th place finish at Richmond dropped him from 8th going into this week to 11th, one spot out of where he needed to be to defend his title. Rounding out the top 5 in the Chevy Rock N' Roll 500 were Kyle Busch, Kasey Kahne, Dave Blaney and Mark Martin.

Kahne Sweeps California

The competition knew that Kasey Kahne would be tough to beat going into California. He had always run well there and he needed a good finish for his team to have a chance to make the Chase for the Nextel Cup. They probably didn't expect him to sweep the weekend though.

Maybe the only thing more spectacular then Kahne sweeping the weekend is how he did it. Both wins came in the final laps of the race as he watched his competition run out of fuel.

Kahne won the Busch race Saturday night after a fierce final lap battle with Paul Menard.

Nextel Cup: The Chase Heads to Cali

Chase conteders just about set with Jimmie Johnson and Matt Kenseth co-favorites.

Two races remain in the Nextel cup season before the 10 drivers will be determined for the chase to the championship. In 1994, the first year of the chase, Kurt Busch was 9th heading into the chase but went on to win the championship. It is therefore quite clear that anyone who makes the chase truly has a chance to win. Jimmie Johnson and Matt Kenseth have already clinched a spot in the chase and have been instilled by BetBet.com as the co 3/1 favorites.
