2007 Subway 500 Preview

With Jeff Gordon securely on the pole for the 2007 Subway 500 at Martinsville Speedway in Virginia, you have to wonder if the other competitors in the Chase for the Nextel Cup have given up hope. Gordon has won the last two races in a row at Charlotte and Talladega and Martinsville is historically one of his best tracks. |

This week all eyes are on Jimmie Johnson as he hits the track at Lowe's Motor Speedway. Johnson has dominated at Charlotte in recent years and all indications are he is the favorite again this weekend. |

NASCAR UAW-Ford 500

For the season, I've recommended 12 separate bets at restrictor-plate tracks. And I'm actually pretty good at this.
You see, superspeedway races like the one this Sunday at Talladega are ridiculously difficult to predict because the cars have restrictor plates on their carburetors, which keep them in packs even when they're traveling 190 miles per hour. |

Clint Bowyer definitely shook up the world, and the points, by winning his first-ever Cup race at Loudon last weekend. Imagine this: if Bowyer's win had come one week earlier, it'd have been merely a footnote; the points he'd have gotten for winning the race would've pretty much evaporated, and he'd have been reset 10 points higher for the Chase than he was. |
