Newman Wins 50th 500

Ryan Newman shocked the racing world today by winning his first Daytona 500. Newman came out of nowhere to pass Tony Stewart on the final lap of the 50th installment of The Great American Race. Sunday’s 2008 Daytona 500 victory was Newman’s first victory in 81 races. Newman’s teammate Kurt Busch came in second. |

Daytona 500 Preview

NASCAR is finally back and we couldn’t be happier about it. After the success we enjoyed with our NASCAR picks in the 2007 season and just how much we love the sport in general it’s great to see the cars back on the track at Daytona. Compound that with the excitement of this being the 50th Anniversary of the Daytona 500 and you’ve got the makings of a magical weekend. |

Daytona 500 Starting Grid

After more than two weeks of practice, qualifying and exhibition races the field that will make up the 50th Daytona 500 is finally set. The final hurdle to the announcement, the Gatorade Duel 150’s are in the books and we can finally announce who is locked into the 50th running of the Daytona 500.
The Great American race has one of the most complicated qualifying procedures in all of motor sports. Even though Daytona 500 qualifying was technically last Sunday only the top 2 qualifiers out of that session were officially “locked in” to the Daytona 500 starting grid. |

Junior Wins Bud Shoot Out

In what can only be called a Cinderella story Dale Earnhardt Jr. dominated and won the 2008 NASCAR Sprint Cup Budweiser Shoot Out.
Saturday night’s 30th Bud Shoot Out Dale Jr. fans and all of NASCAR were treated to a great race capped off by Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s first trip to victory lane with his new team and new car from Hendrick Motorsports. |

Stewart, Busch Scrap

Tony Stewart got into Kurt Busch in the final practice section for the Bud Shootout to be held Saturday evening and then Kurt Busch got back into Stewart - literally.
Stewart ran into the back of Busch’s Miller Lite Dodge on the back stretch of the Daytona International Speedway causing Busch to end up in the outside retaining wall. |
