FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) - Dale Earnhardt Jr. is now Jimmie Johnson's NASCAR Sprint Cup teammate and once had Brad Keselowski driving his Nationwide Series car.
With the Sprint Cup series in Texas and three races remaining, Johnson has a slim two-point lead over Keselowski in the championship chase.
Earnhardt says he obviously wants Johnson to win the title, but is happy for Keselowski. Earnhardt believes Keselowski will be an asset to NASCAR for years to come and has a lot more opportunities to win championships.
Keselowski agrees there should be more chances, but says he doesn't want to waste any that he has now.
Johnson is the pole-sitter for Sunday's race at Texas, where he has 13 top-10 finishes in 18 starts. Keselowsi, who starts eighth, has never finished better than 14th there.
