CONCORD, N.C. (AP) - Joe Gibbs Racing has signed a deal with Dollar General that puts the general merchandise chain on several of the team's cars.
Dollar General will sponsor Joey Logano for 12 Sprint Cup races, and a full Nationwide Series schedule with Brian Scott. The company will also sponsor a second JGR car in the Nationwide Series for 10 races, and will sponsor Kyle Busch in the truck series for 10 events.
The Cup deal with Logano was the piece that Dollar General coveted as it increases the company's presence to NASCAR's top level.
But it came at the expense of Turner Motorsports in NASCAR's Nationwide Series, and of Sarah Fisher Racing in the IndyCar Series. Dollar General dropped both programs.
