MONTREAL (AP) – Local favorite Jacques Villeneuve has earned the pole position for the Nationwide stop in Montreal.
Villeneuve used his last lap of qualifying to post the quickest time on the 2.7-mile track named after his father Gilles. His winning time was 1 minute, 41.80 seconds.
The 1997 Formula One champion from Montreal is driving the No. 22 Dodge that Kurt Busch used to win last week at Watkins Glen, N.Y.
Villeneuve will be joined on the front row by countryman Alex Tagliani, who posted a time of 1:41.94.
Jason Leffler was third fastest.
