ELKHART LAKE, Wis. (AP) - AJ Allmendinger turned a lap of 109.233 mph, winning the pole for Saturday afternoon's NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Road America.
Allmendinger's fast lap came late in Saturday's qualifying session, with a light mist of rain falling on portions of the track.
Australian Owen Kelly qualified second, followed by Parker Kligerman, Justin Allgaier and Michael McDowell. Last year's Road America Nationwide race winner, Nelson Piquet Jr., qualified sixth. Nationwide points leader Regan Smith qualified 16th.
The green flag for Saturday's race is scheduled for 4 p.m. CDT.
