BROOKLYN, Mich. (AP) – It’s been four years since Dale Earnhardt Jr. won a Sprint Cup race.
He’s back in Michigan for this weekend’s 400-mile race at the site of his most recent Cup victory. Earnhardt is second in the points standings and has 11 top-10 finishes this year. It’s an impressive run of success – but without any wins.
He’s without a victory in 143 Cup races since his fuel-mileage victory at Michigan International Speedway four years ago. The date was June 15, 2008 – when he snapped what was at that point a 76-race winless skid.
Earnhardt says he’s fine with the questions about his drought because at least people still care and are paying attention to him.
