CONCORD, N.C. (AP) – Elliott Sadler will be on standby for Paul Menard on Sunday in case the 20 stitches closing a a cut in Menard’s foot prevent him from completing the Coca-Cola 600.
It’s the closest Sadler will be to a Sprint Cup race so far this season.
Sadler is racing in the Nationwide Series this year to prove he still has talent. It’s working for him, too.
Sadler goes into Saturday’s race at Charlotte Motor Speedway leading the Nationwide standings. He drives for Kevin Harvick Inc., and says his goal is to win the championship and prove he can still compete at NASCAR’s top level.
