DARLINGTON, S.C. (AP) – Eric McClure says he remembers only bits and pieces of his accident at Talladega, but knows he had lost his brakes before the impact.
McClure suffered a concussion and internal bruising in the accident in the Nationwide Series race on Saturday. He says he believed he was headed toward his first career top-10 when the accident began in front of him.
McClure was then hit by another car, and heading toward the inside wall, he says he “went to hit the brake pedal and the brakes were not there.”
McClure was airlifted to an Alabama hospital, where he spent two nights with a concussion and internal bruising. He will not race Friday night at Darlington Raceway and has been replaced by Jeff Green in the car.
