NASCAR:
CAR--NASCAR-VICKERS' NEW OUTLOOK
Brian Vickers had plenty of questions last year when he suddenly found himself in the hospital, where doctors discovered blood clots in his leg and near his lungs, and then a hole in his heart. After taking two-thirds of the NASCAR Sprint Cup season to resolve those health issues, Vickers had to answer another big question. Yes, he wanted to race again - and for more reasons than the elusive championship. ``If I came back, it couldn't just be about that,'' Vickers said. ``It had to be about something more. I came back because I just love racing.'' By Stephen Hawkins.

CAR--INDYCAR-CONWAY'S COMEBACK
LONG BEACH, Calif. - Mike Conway hadn't won in 23 career IndyCar races and hadn't raced since a horrific crash at the Indianapolis 500 last May - not exactly the credentials that send owners racing to sign a driver. Michael Andretti never hesitated and Conway rewarded his faith quickly, winning at Long Beach over the weekend in just his third race with the new team. By John Marshall.

CAR--F1-TALE OF THE TIRES
SHANGHAI - Red Bull gambled on its tire strategy at the Formula One Chinese Grand Prix and lost, opening the door for McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton to take a thrilling race that opened up the early fight for the championship. Red Bull went for a two-pitstop strategy and defending champion Sebastian Vettel was left a sitting duck as he tried to nurse worn tires in the closing stages of the race.
