FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) – Greg Biffle now has a victory to go with his status as the NASCAR Sprint Cup points leader.
Biffle ended a 49-race winless streak when he held on tight to win the fastest Cup race ever in Texas.
After a winning pass under Jimmie Johnson with 30 laps left, Biffle went on to win by more than three seconds on a windy, fast-paced Saturday night. He led seven times for 90 laps, winning with a Texas-record average speed of 160.577 mph.
Biffle believes the victory makes a statement to anyone who wondered if it was a fluke he was still leading the points seven races into the season. He was third in the season-opening Daytona 500 and took over the points lead after the third race.
