BRISTOL, Tenn. (AP) - Brian Vickers is back in a race car this weekend for the first time this season, but he's not viewing his five-race stint with Michael Waltrip Racing as a second chance.
Vickers is without a ride this season because his Red Bull Racing team closed at the end of last year. He's been unable to put together a deal for this season, and many believe it's because he closed last year with a very rough month on the track.
He was tabbed last week to run five of the seven races Mark Martin does not have on his schedule with MWR.
But Vickers said he's not going into Sunday's race at Bristol Motor Speedway with something to prove and believes his inability to get a job is sponsorship related.
