LAS VEGAS (AP) – Carl Edwards earned his first victory of the season Sunday by winning at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Edwards finished second in the season-opening Daytona 500, then was wrecked by Kyle Busch last weekend at Phoenix, when he felt like he had a winning car.
At Las Vegas, the Roush Fenway Racing driver took two tires on the final pit stop to beat Tony Stewart, who took four tires. Stewart led a race-high 166 laps, but the four-tire stop with 33 laps remaining dropped him to 22nd and he was unable to make it back to the front.
Juan Pablo Montoya finished third and was followed by Marcos Ambrose, Ryan Newman and Martin Truex Jr. Denny Hamlin was seventh, while Dale Earnhardt Jr., Kurt Busch and Brian Vickers rounded out the top 10.
