POMONA, Calif. (AP) - Randy Johnson went behind the lens at the NHRA Winternationals, trying out his favorite hobby of photographing motorsports. The former major league pitcher snapped shots of 7,000-horsepower Top Fuel dragsters and Funny Cars from the starting line photo area at Auto Club Raceway on Saturday. Johnson has previously shot a NASCAR race in Phoenix. The co-MVP of the 2001 World Series who retired in 2009 developed a love of photography while majoring in photojournalism at Southern California, where he shot for the student newspaper. Says Johnson: ``It's adrenaline. When one of those cars goes by I want to grab a baseball and throw it through a brick wall. It's been a pleasure to come out here and meet some of the drivers and take it all in.'' |
