According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Jimmie Johnson is the favorite to win the 2014 title, as he has 2/1 odds. Other short odds to win are Kyle Busch (6/1), Matt Kenseth (7/1) and Denny Hamlin (8/1).

Johnson won the 2013 title by 19 points over the field. He had six wins and 16 top 5s last year. Johnson has six championships in his career and his worst finish in a season since competing full time was sixth in 2011.

Busch finished fourth in the standings, 55 points out of first in 2013. He had four wins and 16 top 5s. The fourth-place finish was the best in his career and first top-5 finish since taking fifth in 2007.

Kenseth placed second in the 2013 standings. He had seven wins and 12 top 5s in 2013. Kenseth won the points title back in 2003 and has placed in the top 5 in the final standings in three of the last four years.

Hamlin finished 23rd in the standings last year, largely due to an injury that caused him to miss races. He had one win and four top 5s last year. Hamlin finished second in the 2010 standings, which was his best finish.
