According to oddsmakers, Stewart had 4/1 odds to win Sunday’s race, meaning a $100 wager on him will pay out an additional $400. Stewart came into the 2011 season with 12/1 odds to claim the season title, meaning a $100 wager on Stewart to win the title will pay out an additional $1,200. Stewart even had 20/1 odds to win the title coming into the Chase for the Championship, but he won half of the races in the chase to claim the title.

In regards to Sunday, Stewart found himself in 40th place at one point in the race, but he fought his way back up the track and managed to hold off Edwards over the final 17 laps to claim the race win and Sprint Cup Championship.

Both drivers finished with 2,403 points on the year, putting them 58 points ahead of Kevin Harvick, who ended up third for the season. Defending champion, Jimmie Johnson, finished sixth, 99 points out of first.
