Harvick wins wild race

AVONDALE, AZ (TheSpread) – It was an eventful AdvoCare 500 on Sunday that saw Kevin Harvick come away with the victory.

Aside from who won, there were two big developments. The biggest was Jimmie Johnson running into a wall in the later half of the race after cutting a tire, which may cost him the Sprint Cup Championship. Johnson ended up 32nd while Brad Keselowski finish in 6th to take a 20-point lead in the series standings with just one race remaining.

The other big development was a brawl between the teams of Clint Bowyer and Jeff Gordon. The two made contact late in the race that took Gordon out of the race. Gordon then waited for Bowyer to come around the track and he took out his car, ending both of their days.

Bowyer was still competing for the Sprint Cup title when wrecked, so his team went after Gordon’s team. The second wreck also took place in front of Keselowski and nearly got him involved, which would have had a major impact on the series standings. Bowyer finished 28th while Gordon was 30th.

According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Harvick had 20/1 odds to win this race, which means a wager of $100 on Harvick to win will pay out an additional $2,000.

Denny Hamlin came in second while Kyle Busch was third on Sunday as both had strong cars throughout the day but couldn’t quite get the victory.
